Our Core Values
At Toshiba, our core values drive everything we do. These values reflect our commitment to our employees, customers, and the word at large:
Do the right thing. We act with integrity, honesty and openness, doing what's right - not what's easy.
Always consider the impact. We think about how what we do will change the world for the better, both today and for generations to come.
Look for a better way. We continually strive to find new and better ways, embracing change as a means for progress.
Create together. We collaborate with each other and our customers, so that we can grow together.
Inclusive and Collaborative Environment
We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and respected. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) policy underscores our dedication to creating a workplace that celebrates individuality and harnesses the power of diverse perspectives.
Here’s how we live our DEIB principles:
Toshiba’s Policy on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
Diversityaddremove
The individuality and differences found in people and groups. They are the source of new ideas and the driving force behind Toshiba ‘s growth. We respect the diversity of our people, including their race, nationality, age, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, religion, creed, culture, disability, values, skills, experience and lifestyle. We do not and will not tolerate discrimination on the basis of individual characteristics.
Equityaddremove
The fair provision of opportunities that allow all employees to take on challenges and flourish. Each of us have our own characteristics and situations, and it is important to provide appropriate support. Toshiba develops structures, creates environments and provides opportunities, so that all of our employees are able to maximise their abilities and contribute to the organisation.
Inclusionaddremove
The determination to make the most of individuality and differences within an organisation. Each individual is respected as a person, and able to feel that they are contributing to day-to-day business activities. Unconscious bias impacts on individuality and difference. Aware of this, we actively listen to opinions that differ from our own. People can be themselves, share diverse opinions and grow together only in a work environment and corporate culture where people show mutual respect, and where psychological safety is guaranteed.
Toshiba is committed to co-creating value while respecting the diversity and wide-ranging opinions of the people who make up society, with the aim of realising a better world.
Belongingaddremove
The situation where each individual feels that, “As a member of the organisation, I am in a place where I can make the most of myself.” This perception occurs naturally, unforced, in a corporate culture and work environment where all employees are respected as individuals and given fair opportunities to meet challenges and grow. It is achieved through the promotion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Toshiba is committed to a corporate culture and work environment where a diverse range of employees embrace the desire and intention to contribute to "Committed to People, Committed to the Future.
Community and Social Responsibility
We believe in making a positive impact not only through our innovative products and solutions but also by giving back to the communities where we operate. Our commitment to the corporate social responsibility (CSR) is deeply ingrained in our culture, and we offer numerous opportunities for our employees to get involved and make a difference.
Volunteering Opportunities
We encourage our employees to volunteer their time and talents to make a positive impact in their local communities, fostering a spirit of giving and community engagement. Here are some of our recent volunteer activities:
Food Bank: Our team members in the UK have volunteered at local food charities to help source and redistribute surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Litter Pick: As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, our employees around Europe regularly participate in litter pick activities as a way to give back to their local communities.
Book Donation: Across Europe, we have collected and distributed hundreds of books to schools in South Africa, providing educational resources to those who need them most and giving books a second life.
Sustainability Month
Every December, we celebrate Sustainability Month, encouraging our employees to volunteer on their own and engage in activities that promote sustainability and community well-being. This initiative empowers our team members to take action and contribute to causes they are passionate about, furthering our collective impact on society.
Supporting Art and Culture at V&A
Toshiba Corporation has been a proud sponsor of the Toshiba Gallery of Japanese Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum, since its opening in 1986. This partnership ensures that visitors can experience and learn from one of the UK’s largest permanent galleries of Japanese art. The gallery showcases over 550 objects from the museum’s renowned collection, illustrating the extraordinary craftsmanship and artistic creativity of Japan from the sixth century to the present day.
