Toshiba Europe Limited has pioneered the development of quantum communication systems over the past decade, setting new standards for cryptography and data security. We are currently seeking an Electronic Design Engineer to join the growing team developing our products within Toshiba’s Quantum Technology Division, based in Cambridge, UK.

The successful candidate will take the lead in design, implementation and maintenance of our electronic circuitry. In this role, you will develop the PCBs within the heart of our products.  You should be able to demonstrate your experience designing, implementing and testing RF circuitry integrating FPGAs and microprocessors. 

You will join a dynamic organisation, working within a team of engineers and researchers, with the ability to make a significant impact and playing a major role in the development of next-generation secure communication products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, layout and test of new RF electronic circuits used in high-speed communication systems
  • Maintenance of the electronic circuits in existing products
  • Work closely with the electronics, software & test teams to understand and solve circuit-related problems
  • Write technical design and test documentation
  • Mentor junior engineers

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering or equivalent subject
  • Proven success in RF and mixed signal electronic circuit design
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams
  • Familiarity with development practices from project conception through to test and maintenance.
  • Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary product team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and time management to successfully drive projects

Desirable:

  • Software engineering experience in C/C++
  • Familiarity with the Altium Designer CAD tool
  • Proven success in circuit design with FPGA
  • Experience with hardware description languages such as Verilog and/or VHDL
  • Good familiarity with Linux
  • Engineering experience in the communications industry with design responsibilities
